Mark has had a discrete affair with the first ‘dry’ Polaroid since his days at The Factory working with Warhol.

How proud would Bubba, my great grandmother, have been if she knew she was singled out as Tina Fey’s look-a-like! The book’s a riot and I’m pumped she sourced our stock.

While I have been the one receiving all the congrats, which I must admit feels pretty good, I would be remiss if I didn’t give credit where credit is due. It takes a village, right? My village is Scott Reed, Curt Von Diest, Hilary Skirboll, Paul Nordmann, Paula Gren and Kathy McGuire-Mullins. Thanks to all. And thanks to Tony, Yvonne and the entire HYC/Advocate crew for ‘getting it’!

Hats off to Mike Hartley at Big Flannel for his talent, vision and most importantly patience – if PDN had a ‘how many site revisions can a designer/programmer tolerate?’ award, he would definitely win big! In lieu of that, we are proud to share a nod in the Website Category of this year’s PDN Photo Annual.

Thanks again, Mike

We are happy to welcome Lori Schwilling to our team. Hailing from San Francisco, Lori worked with us in Petaluma last fall on a five day shoot for Gilenya. She refers to her 3 week drive here on back roads through six states as an ‘epic’ roadtrip. All the while shooting loads of film, she traced her family roots back to the original homestead in the Flint Hills of Kansas.

Since arriving to St. Louis she has gained a new appreciation for ice cubes, air conditioning and local news.

Ashley Gieseking and I had the pleasure of working together last week for Flashes of Hope, a national non-profit organization, that ‘changes the way children with cancer see themselves through the gift of photography.’ The mission is simple – take great portraits of kids who are fighting cancer to make them feel beautiful and special. As with many volunteer efforts like this, what begins as a donation of time ends up a gift for the volunteer. We shot 14 kids throughout the day, each more amazing then the next. One mother teared up when we were able to get her son to smile and laugh. She pulled out a five year old picture from her wallet and said… “this was the last picture I had of him smiling until today.” Wow.

Here’s a scrapbook from a recent Draftfcb shoot for a new MS drug. In addition to the lifestyle shoot, we had the pleasure of photographing five ‘Ambassadors’ representing patients suffering from the disease. These people were amazing – happy, energetic and great spirited. Thanks to the folks at Draft, Novartis and the great support team to make this shoot a highlight of 2010!
