Inspired by authenticity, Mark’s soulful images capture life’s real moments. His style is classic, genuine and fresh. And, whether shooting stills or video, Mark’s positive energy, humor and craftsmanship consistently bring a collaborative and synergistic atmosphere to his sets.
Mark’s work was featured on the cover of Communication Arts Photography Annual – a coveted industry award which cemented his position as a premier lifestyle photographer. Additionally, his first short documentary won a spot in the 2012 Communication Arts Annual. On top of shooting, Mark is also considered an international expert on the photogravure process and has been recognized by TED, The Library of Congress and Harvard University.
Mark’s first book, Fires, Fuel and the Fate of 3 Billion (Oxford University Press) chronicles the struggle of the energy impoverished in rural India and was published in the fall of 2013.
We Did Not Pay
Them To Say
“When I first hired Mark I thought he was the industry’s best kept secret until I found out he was a well established, award winning photographer. Schmuck. Mark's an A-list photographer without the A list baggage that can sometimes come with this caliber of artist. I've worked with him on and off for over 2 years, mostly on big jobs that would have had a lot of photographers rethinking their careers. This guy is exceptional at what he does. No attitude, just outstanding work from an all around good guy. With one exception - don't ever challenge him to a sushi eating contest. He's friggin ruthless.”
“I recently shot a huge campaign with Mark. His experience as a photographer is what made the 6 month project seem like just a couple days. He listens well and heard our AD's concerns and the concerns of our client. He knew how to collaborate and when faced with problems, he offered solutions. He's a photographer that's not just clicking his camera (and that he does very well) but he truly understands the business of photography in all aspects. He's professional, personable and he's got a great sense of humor. He also has a very strong team, which is a huge part of the Mark Katzman experience.”
